The Goliad Massacre was set in the town of Goliad on March 27,1836

and is known as a massacre ,or killing of most of the people unnecessarily. This massacre was the killing of the Republic of Texas and their chief, James W. Fannin. This happened, wait for it, during the Texas Revolution! They were killed by the Mexican Army who were under orders from the General/President, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna.

Even though there were lots of people complaining about not getting

compassion from their General, José de Urrea, the Goliad massacre happened under the laws of Lt. Colonel José Nicolás de la Portilla. The problem was that Portilla did not want to engage on the massacre. He had to though, and carried it out even though he did not want to. This all happened after Santa Anna was aware of the fact that Texians were heading towards the Mexicans in Matamoros on the Matamoros Expedition.

When Santa Anna found out that the rebels were heading towards

them, he instructed General Urrea to start charging towards Matamoros and then start going northwards along the coast of the Texas territory. They were walking over to Texas to stop the “treacherous” Texians. Unfortunately for Mexico, it did not work. Yay, Texas!
