The Battle of San Jacinto took place in what is now Harris County,

Texas. It happened on April 21, 1836 and took place as the tenth event of the Texas Revolution. The Texians were led by Sam Houston, and the Mexicans were led by General and President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. It only lasted a surprising 18 minutes. I would have predicted that the Texians won. The great thing is, they did! They also captured Santa Anna and held him as a prisoner of war.

When they held Santa Anna as a prisoner of war, he ended up

surrendering the following day, so the Texians won the war, became the Texans and made the way for Texas to become the 28th state of the United States of America. Three weeks later, Santa Anna signed over a peace treaty between the two areas and left them alone. The treaty said that the Mexican Army will leave the Texas border and let the Texans become their own country until later.

The treaties did not specify Texas as an absolute country by itself, but

it did say that Mexico definately has to keep off their border. Sam Houston became a very, very well known celebrity all over the Texas area. The shouts that echoed of every single wall, rock and body was, “Remember the Alamo!”,”Remember the Goliad!”.
