The Battle of Goliad happened on October 9, 1835 during the first

few hours of the day. Some restless Texians attacked Mexican Army soldiers at Presidio La Bahía which was a building or fort near the Texian settlement of the city of Goliad. La Bahía was halfway between a giant stronghold of a mexican settlement called Presidio San Antonio de Bexar ,and ,the city that was consequential in the past, Copano. In September the Texas settlers wanted to capture General Martín Perfecto de Cos so they started planning to put it in action.

The plan was originally sent away by the main team planning the

dissent. Yet during days of the Texas victory at the Battle of Gonzales, their captain ,George Collinsworth, and some Texians in the Texian militia in Matagorda started to charge towards the Goliad area. Shortly after, the Texas inhabitants learned that General Martín Perfecto de Cos and his men were marching towards their fort,San Antonio de Béxar. After hearing this information, the Texians surprisingly kept going onward.

The settlement at La Bahía wasn’t very well staffed ,so it wouldn’t

be able to produce a working defense of the area’s border line. Using weapons they borrowed from townspeople nearby, Texians burst through a door and entered before the big amount of soldiers noticed they were at their “front door”. After a battle that lasted only thirty minutes, the Mexican settlement ruled by Colonel Juan López Sandoval, finally surrendered.
